     About us...

     We are an outreach of Eagle Summit Family Ministries located in Blount County, Alabama. We are  Christians who believe in the Holy Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that the Holy Bible is the Word of God. However, we are Cherokee descendants so we also worship in the traditional Cherokee way. We do not require that our homeschooling families attend church services, worship, or even claim to be Christians. We believe that all families should have the choice to home educate their children which is why we decided to provide an umbrella school so that others may legally do so in the state of Alabama. For those who are interested we do have a Facebook group under the name: Eagle Summit Family Ministries and we welcome you to visit and read our daily Elders Meditation. We also have some of the Cherokee traditions posted there and I will be continuing to post more from time to time. 

     We have a Facebook group for our homeschooling families and students as well. It is Eagle Summit Academy. Our mascot is the Eagle. We chose this honorable and majestic bird because the Cherokee and other Native American Indians believe that the eagle is a messenger of God. The eagle is known for its wisdom and endurance. Our colors are white, emerald green, and blue. White is for purity, green is for the earth, and blue represents the sky...where we hope all our students will soar with the freedom to learn.

     Nearly everyone today knows someone who homeschools. As home educated children reach adulthood the news of their success reaches out into the community and continues to spread in ever widening circles. Colleges and universities welcome and even actively recruit homeschooled students. Scholarships are available to help pay for their college education. There do not have to be set hours and it doesn't always take place sitting at a desk waiting for the bell to ring.
     Whether you're a single parent, working parent, or a stay-at-home parent you CAN homeschool your children. You don't have to be a professional teacher to home educate your child. Children are naturally curious and like to learn if done with freedom and nurturing. Parents are natural teachers. After all, who taught your child to walk, feed their self, or tie their shoes? If you're new to homeschooling we'll do everything we can to help you find everything you need to make your homeschooling experience easy, affordable, and most important, fun! If you're a veteran homeschooler, we'll help you find new ideas and techniques to keep your home education challenging and interesting. 
     Each child deserves a quality education, one-on-one attention, and guidance in choosing the road that leads to happiness and success in their life and in their work. It's never too late to switch from public school to home education even if your child is in high school. Home education requires much less time and expense than you might expect. You'll have the added benefit of seeing your child begin to enjoy learning when they realize that home education is tailored to their learning styles and interests. Home education is not a new idea. It was once a normal everyday life routine. Every child benefits from learning in a safe, caring, stimulating environment surrounded and taught by those who love them and have their best interests at heart. Never doubt that you are the best teacher your child could have in their life. Home education is sure to be one of the most rewarding and memorable experiences of your life.
